Can prices be manually updated?
No. The pricer is automatic and prices cannot be manually set. Prices may be regenerated in extreme cases, but they still cannot be manually changed.
How can I connect a bot to PriceDB?
Follow the setup guidance in the PriceDB TF2Autobot fork wiki. PriceDB support is built into the standard TF2Autobot project by default.
How do I report an issue?
Join the PriceDB Discord and open a ticket. For general support, you can also ask the community.
Where does the pricing data come from?
Prices are produced using a number of sources, including backpack.tf and the Steam Community Market, plus several others. We cannot reveal every source because of agreements with providers and the need to reduce the risk of data manipulation.
Will you share information about services using PriceDB?
No. We do not disclose backend information such as the number or identities of connected bots, or the sites requesting and using the data. This information is frequently requested for manipulation or other malicious purposes, and releasing it could adversely affect the bots and sites using PriceDB.
Why are some items missing?
Some items do not have enough reliable market data to calculate a trustworthy price, so no price is published for them.
An item page is missing a marketplace. Can you add it?
Usually, yes. A marketplace can be considered when its owners agree to the integration and there is sufficient community interest in seeing it added.
Will the API ever become a paid service?
Hopefully not. The intention is to keep the API free and fully public while donations and other forms of financing make that sustainable. PriceDB was created after the removal of prices.tf, and we do not want to charge for this functionality.
